Man from Tokyo
A Artist Talk By Jaime Humphreys
A talk by artist and art coordinator Jaime Humphreys (UK) about community art projects and workshops realized in Tokyo and Japan. He will also introduce 遊工坊 Youkobo Art Space, a microresidence center based in Western Tokyo.Jaime Humphreys explores the medium of drawing through installations, collaborative projects, and workshops as a means of re-experiencing spaces and drawing attention to the often overlooked visual features and relational elements (private and public, interior and exterior, etc.) within them. Recent projects include Ishinomaki Drawing Project, a collaboration with children in the disaster-hit area of Ishinomaki in northern Japan. Based in Tokyo for over 8 years, he is pursuing a range of creative activities while also working as an art coordinator for Youkobo Art Space, an artist residency center and gallery which has hosted over 150 artists and organized a number of international exchange projects over an 11-year period.
